Post Slovenia's Mystic President
Check out this fascinating article on Janez Drnovsek, Slovenia's President, who has "abandonned the capitol for a mountain retreat". He was diagnosed with cancer in 1999, and by 2001, because it had spread to several other organs, was told his condition was incurable. His reaction? He 'adopted a low profile to fight his illness' by seeking refuge away from the city and began to focus on his own healing via alternate methods. Drnovsek is well known for having negotiated 'a peaceful secession from the former Yugoslavia in 1991' and also for 'steering Slovenia from communism to democracy', achievements which earned him much respect. Initially a banker, he was once described as singularily uncharismatic and was quoted as saying, "People demand(ed) vision. I hate vision. The cemetary of history is full of visionaries"....

Post Thanks Kristen for posting about the Mystic
Quote from the article about him: Drnovsek has now abandoned his conflict-resolution efforts. He tried his best, but was dismissed as “this crazy Slovenian President”, he says. “I came to the conclusion that the only way to change the world is to change the consciousness of as many individual people as possible, and then the pressure on politicians will increase to act differently.”

I had recently gotten the audio of Wayne Dyer's latest book, which is on the Tao Te Ching. Dyer had an episode with cancer during the time he was doing the work on the book. I was listening tonight to a part about how the only way for the world to change is for individuals to change their consciousness and find their inner relationship to the Great Tao. Then the right kind of changes can begin to appear in the outer world.
