Suzanne - you okay?

I was listening to the radio and dozed off. Woke up to the bed shaking and then realized the whole house was shaking. Apparently Virginia was the origin of the quake.

This was a first for me... whoa.

Looking for info online I found that there was a quake in Colorado last night too.

"Rare Strong Earthquake Hits Colorado
By KIRK JOHNSON
Published: August 23, 2011

DENVER — The largest natural earthquake in Colorado in more than a century struck Monday night in the state’s southeast corner, but there had been no reports of damage or injuries.

The quake, with a preliminary magnitude of 5.3 and centered about nine miles from the city of Trinidad, hit at 11:46 p.m. local time. It was felt as far away as Greeley, about 350 miles north, and into Kansas and New Mexico, said Julie Dutton, a geophysicist at the National Earthquake Information Center in Golden, Colo.

Colorado, with its mix of mountains and plains, sits astride a seismically stable part of the nation where earthquakes are mostly mild and far between. But the area around Trinidad is regularly hit by tiny quakes as a result of a local fault zone, Ms. Dutton said.

She said that while Colorado has experienced several earthquakes close to Monday’s size in recent decades — a magnitude 5.3 near Denver in 1967 and a magnitude 5.7 in the state’s northwest corner in 1973 — both of those quakes were ultimately determined to have been caused by human activity, from explosives or drilling.

The last known natural event of comparable size was an earthquake in 1882 in what is now Rocky Mountain National Park, several hours northwest of Denver. That quake, based on historical reports, was about a magnitude 6.5, Ms. Dutton said."

Cher Roger,

Are these despicable "Acts of God" nobody likes to insure against - like what happened in Fukusall?

Post Pyramid Formation?
Cher Roger,

Thanks for the heads-up on Earthquake Puts Crack In Washington Monument. I was not aware of this development. I see the crack occurred near the top...

On the nightly news on PBS a fellow from the USGS addressed a growing concern on Twitter, etc. where people are wondering if this was a foreshock. I guess the memory of this happening in Japan a couple of months before the 9.0 hit has people on edge. He indicated that there is always a low probability that this was a foreshock in which case it could be expected that there will be another earthquake of the same size or greater.

BTW it's surprising a tilt was not introduced. I guess that means it is too well anchored - maybe like the water reflection in the following image suggests - a reflection that points to the Lincoln Memorial as if that is an omen of some regard.

P.S. I add the following little humor because where the shadow is there is humor also. Like this it points to a need to unite the opposites or those "United States" for Wholeness.

Post Re: Earthquake in NE U.S. and uploading pictures here
Hi Beth and Everybody, Thanks for your concern about me and Virginia. I am at my daughter's house (twelve miles from mine) and was here yesterday when the quake hit. I had just plopped onto a bed to take a nap. The large mirror on the dresser nearby and other things began shaking like crazy for about 15-20 seconds. I have lived in Virginia for all of my almost 68 years and have never experienced an earthquake. After checking with the kids who were downstairs, it appeared nothing bizarre mechanically was happening within the house. I thought... maybe... earthquake as unlikely as that seemed. I still had the computer on, so I did a search for news... nothing. However, I saw that there was a link to Realtime earthquake info for all over the world at the United States Geological Survey website. So, less than 5 minutes after the quake, I could view a map with a red square marking the origin of the quake. Nothing started appearing at news sites for about 10 to 15 minutes later. The first person to call us was the Turkish widow of my first husband. Turks know about earthquakes. So the kids got a few carry bags and put water and grab food in them, and we put on our shoes in case we would have to dash out of the house at some point to safe ground outside where stuff would not be falling on us. There have been a couple of aftershocks since, but we only saw about them on the TV news and did not feel them. My husband called and later the decision was made that I would stay here rather than risking going out in the massive traffic situation due to the federal goverment and private industry employees having been let out enmasse and clogging up all the highways for many miles beyond DC.

The Washington Monument happens to be a very personal landmark to me. It was in that area that all the melodrama with my One and Only took place back in 1961-1963. I walked by the Monument on the day Lee had suddenly kissed me for one second at his office door, and I felt like the universe had somehow turned inside out and upside down as a result of this abrupt change from esoteric friendship to impossible romance. Anyhow, I intend to post on the Ann-Suzanne Blog about the increasing intensity and diversity of synchronicities that have been going on recently. It is almost like the portals between here and the In Between and the astral, causal, and other dimensions are opening wider. During this last week, my old high school friend Marla, who I first met when we were both 12 years old has been expected to pass on from terminal cancer. She was the only person who knew Lee in person during the same timeframe that I did back then in the late 1950s. She has totally believed in recent months that he and other dear ones we knew then are waiting for her on the other side. The deceased Lee said to me a few days ago that she is visiting there but has not made the transition yet. She has seemed to appear astrally to a couple of us here in Virginia and indicated not to worry about her demise.

Something kind of amazing happened yesterday. My sister also knew Marla very well years ago before Marla moved to California and we all lost touch for 35 years. My daughter found Marla on Facebook a couple of years ago. Marla and her husband came here for a month before the cancer was diagnosed, and there was a huge birthday party for her outside... at Lake Anna... which is the epicenter of yesterday's quake. I became aware quickly of the nuclear power plant connection when news came of two being automatically shut down awhile. The cell phone connections were going crazy around here with people trying to get in touch with loved ones. I had called my daughter, and the call seemed to get dropped. My daughter said that her phone window said I was calling, but when she answered, another woman's voice was on the line but garbled. She could not understand what was said. So what? But then later into the evening, my sister called and said she had just found out about the Lake Anna area epicenter and that was where she too came to Marla's big birthday celebration in Sept. 2009. Then my sister said that something peculiar happened with the cell phone craziness phase that had lasted a few hours in her area in SE Virginia. She got a call from Unknown, and a garbled woman's voice asked for Mary. That is the childhood name I call her by, but almost everybody else for over 40 years has called her by her middle name. The woman also mentioned the name Sue which is my childhood name. My sister asked who is calling, but then the call cut off. Well, maybe you are guessing by now, that Marla was one of the very very few people who would still be saying Mary to my sister. OK, maybe this is just a fluke, because Marla reportedly unconscious and on the borderline of The Beyond would not be calling on a phone. Maybe some woman was calling a Mary at the wrong number. But the TIMING is too sensationalistically a big huge meaningful coincidence.

By the way... in regard to the dangers of nuclear power plants in connection with earthquakes and hurricaines (and many other hazard issues)... MARLA was the friend who went with me in 1971 to meet Mrs. Lao Russell in Waynesboro, Virginia. Lao Russell and her husband Walter Russell wrote the book, ATOMIC SUICIDE in 1957 that not only warned againt the bomb but condemned any use of nuclear power plants. Dr. Russell was deceased in 1962. I showed Lao a picture of Lee and told her I had seen a vision of Lee and her husband sitting together at a table out on a lawn. She said she could not be sure after so many years, but she thought he looked familiar and might have been one of the younger men scientists (as well as musicians) who would stop by and talk with Dr. Russell. She had me walk with her to an area where she said Dr. Russell did indeed put a large table on the lawn to chat with guests. Anyhow, I have written about this in length with Ann on the Blog before. Ann had also met Mrs. Russell and corresponded with her for years. Perhaps we may be getting some unfortunate demonstrations of nuclear plant risks here on the East Coast from hurricanes and earthquakes.

As to my mention of pictures on the forum, I am inserting one here from a news site, which I expect will disappear when the news site drops it as a current topic. I learned some time ago to save pictures to my computer and upload them to the forum. I lost a picture of my philosophy professor I posted on the Blog because I directly linked to it at a newspaper website and did not save it to my computer to upload.

I am not able to figure out how to upload pictures now to this new forum. There is a box to upload something as an archive item, and a photo will show up... BUT I discovered when not signed in at the forum, the picture does NOT show up. Newcomers will see a very barren set of posts if direct link and archive images are not visible.

How do I upload a computer saved photo to this new forum? Even if I created a source online of my own, still they would disappear if I died or otherwise my collection was deleted somehow which happened when AOL dumped everybody's free personal Home Page a couple of years ago with only a brief warning. Here is a picture that will probably soon disappear as it is a direct link to a DC area news item online. There will probably be only a blank here in a few days. There is a crack at the top of the Washington Monument, but multiple spire pieces have fallen off the top of the Washington National Cathedral that dwells on the HIGHEST SPOT in all of DC. So we have a damaged Washington Monument and a damaged Cathedral... might be meaningful in some way esoterically.

Post Re: Earthquake in NE U.S. - a lesson
Hi,

I guess this comes as a lesson to me about posting at the forum. I don't suppose this could have made any difference in the long run, but it pays special attention to posting here.

The day before the earthquake I was taking a break from work and sat down. When I did, I had a similar experience to the one I had with the Japan quake. Back then, I pictured being sandwiched in rubble from an earthquake while playing with my daughter. This time I laughed about it - I actually wanted to talk to people I knew and really couldn't. I thought "relax man..."

As I sat there I thought, "why don't we have quakes that run through the 'center' of north america?"...and "if one were to happen there, would we feel it here?" I began to picture the earth (the ground) moving and rocking, almost like a large snake was moving under the surface. In more esoteric terms, the snake was moving north. I was picturing the ground rumbling across the prairies...which really 'doesn't happen'.

I contacted one person and did not mention it, but for the first time (I think) when signing off an email I wished the best for the person's family also. I guess I was worried about getting one of those "don't worry kiddo" kind of responses so I didn't mention it. Interesting thing here in that it was an actual synchronicity which prompted me to send the email in the first place.

Lesson learned. Don't be afraid.

Post Re: Earthquake in NE U.S.
...and really, is it much of a stretch of the imagination to think that the force of an earthquake would be present before feeling the actual movement of the plates? It seems very simple to me when I consider this from Newton: "When a force acts (pushes or pulls) on an object, it changes the object's speed and makes it accelerate. The bigger the force, the more the object accelerates."

This force is major, and I think we SHOULD be able to 'feel' it.

Suzanne and all -

Funny how the "correction" is so precisely explicit in the design (of the cathedral spire, I could not copy the picture here).

And then I started musing to myself about the project of "fixing" it. About how there would be committees and fundraising and arguments of various kinds. "leave it! nature disturbed it, so it is 'meant to be'". "fix it! it is a work of art that must be restored!" . "my cousin is a specialist! he should fix it!" "your cousin's an idiot! and a philanderer!" "separation of church and state! no federal funds!" etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc.

America! :)

Post Lake Anna Rumble
Suzanne,

In case you haven't seen this account...

Quote:
The Quake On Lake Anna The lake was like glass. “I rode down past [North Anna Power Station] by a dike where we like to go swimming.”

He had his life jacket on and was preparing to jump in. The spot is about 50 feet deep.

“I started to hear this rumble, and I thought they were doing some construction at the plant. It was a rumble that sounded very deep beneath the boat. All of a sudden, the [aluminum pontoon boat] started to rattle. Then it got really intense, as though someone were under the boat, pushing it up and down.” The boat rose about a foot and a half, he said, four or five times.

“I’d been in a small earthquake in California, but nothing like this. The shock waves took a very long time to subside.”

The lake, he recalled, was still strangely glass smooth.

The next strange thing: “It was like a Jacuzzi at the top of the lake” which he reckons were gas bubbles released from the bottom.
